Squirrel on a tree

This is a Rodentia Sciuridae, also known as squirrel. It is food.

These creatures are known for gathering and storing nuts for the winter, usually in a hidden place. And they are a persistent creature, but not all squirrels are of equal intelligence.

They are also notorious for eating out of bird feeders.

Some squirrels can be hand-fed, but be warned that they would attempt to take as much as they could. If you start feeding them today, they will come again tomorrow. They would cache most of the food some place safe.

Eating a squirrel however, is the closest one might get to eat a rodent.

Schnauzer dog

Schnauzers are cute dogs.

They are friendly, mischievous, and for a hairy creature have a great sense of humor to whatever you might say about them, unlike some hairy humans.

These dogs aren’t very big, which totally disqualifies them as a guard dog, but they make a good companion. According to reliable sources they’re good with children, but what do I know?

This is a suitable breed for most people.

The typical Schnauzer is alert and high spirited, intelligent, willing to please, and obedient to command.

What kind of name is Schnauzer anyway? It’s the German kind, and you thought Germans only do hot dogs. Well, you probably think Pluto is still a planet too!

Hummingbird near a bird feeder

Hummingbirds can only be found only in the Americas, from Alaska down to Tierra del Fuego, and they’re hard to capture on cameras.

These birds are small, and fast. We’re talking ability to hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping wings, 15 to 80 times per second. They can fly backwards, vertically, and to maintain position in mid-air while waiting for you to setup your camera and then disappear and soon as you look into the viewfinder.

They have awesome aerodynamics and heartbeat over 1200 beats per minutes which make them hungry all the time. Lucky for them, they can lower their heartbeat to roughly 50 beats per minute when food is not readily available, reducing their needs for sustenance.

My Canon S3 IS shutter speed was set to 1/250 and ISO to 200. I had telephoto lens attached. I waited patiently and quietly, and I managed to snap this shot. Granted, I’m not the world’s best photographer.

Hummingbirds are beautiful. I usually love to brag about being on top of the food chain, but these birds are cutely inedible.
