It’s That Season of The Year
Posted by datacrush under Rave
December. The best time of the year.
For over two thousand years, humans — the only confirmed intelligent life form in the universe — has been celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
The meaning of Christmas has somewhat deteriorate over the past decades, with commerce taking precedence over substance of whom Jesus is, but you don’t have to be a believer to celebrate Christmas. It’s also true that you don’t have to celebrate Christmas to celebrate Christmas Day.
Christmas is an event with a dutiful meaning and a passionate purpose. Christmas Day without Christmas spirit would just be a celebration on the 25th day of the 12th month of any given year. For some, it’s just an excuse to get together and drink booze.
For the next three weeks or so, homes across the planet will be lavishly decorated with Christmas icons and seasons’ greetings. Shoppers will have many stories to tell, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Trees will be chopped down and dragged indoors for decoration. Teenagers will make up explicit gifts wish list, while little boys and girls will be well behaved to pacify Santa. Some singles will find an excuse to fall in love, because there’s nothing worse than being alone on Christmas eve. It all seems like a lot of work!
Yet through it all, on the 25th day of the 12th month, the people will rejoice for peace on earth, and goodwill towards all mankind. Cliche.
Let me sleep, and wake me not till Christmas Day.
