San Francisco
Posted by datacrush under Travels
Seventeen years. That is how long it took me from playing Manhunter 2, a Sierra On-Line computer game set in San Francisco, to actually being here, in San Francisco.
Just being here is worth all the trouble I had to go through with air travels. My flight into George Bush Airport in Houston from Little Rock was delayed due to bad weather, and by the time I arrived, my connecting flight to San Francisco had already left. You’d think air travel used to be fun. Nowadays it’s a combination of bad weather, tight security, missing luggage, and unfriendly airline representatives.
A shuttle from San Francisco airport (SFO) to city costs USD15. I’d suggest you handover USD20 and tell the driver to keep the change.
Accommodation choices are plenty in San Francisco, but generally you would want to stay at or nearby the Fisherman’s Wharf area. Among the notable ones are Marriot, Radisson, and Ramada. Also be aware that while some accommodations offers high-speed Internet access and that seems like a fine place, they may not have air conditioners (yes, weird). Usually when that happens, the high-speed Internet access sucks too. Elsewhere is fine, but you would probably be too far off from accessing good foods, and that’s usually very important or you’d have instinctive urges to kill a pigeon whenever you see one.
San Francisco has a good share of international cuisine, and finding food is easy, even if you do not have a nose like a pack of hungry wolves combined together. They’re mostly seafood, so it pays to be at the top of the food chain.
If you love walking, San Francisco makes for a good walk. Most areas are hilly, but the cool air takes the pain away. You could also rent bicycles. Public transportation are easy to get, and you shouldn’t have any problems getting around.
Someday, I would love to return this to place. It’s an interesting city, and nothing in my experience compares to it’s uniqueness. Hopefully earthquake won’t get to it first.
